Virtual Factory Framework

Introduction

Virtual Factory Framework (VFF) is a Collaborative Research Project funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme

VFF objective is will research and implement the underlying models and ideas at the foundation of a new conceptual framework designed to implement the next generation Virtual Factory, constantly synchronized with the real one.

pillars

The project consists of the following four pillars:

Vision

The VFF will promote major time and cost savings while increasing performance in the design, management, evaluation and reconfiguration of new or existing facilities, supporting the capability to simulate dynamic complex behaviour over the whole life cycle of Factory, approached as a complex long living Product.

Roadmap

The project empowers a Virtual Factory Framework radical innovation, thus promoting the future manufacturing industry.
The VFF work-plan is organized through 9 work-packages:
The four pillars are addressed in WP2, WP3, WP4 and WP5. They are studied and developed in the framework of the VVF concept definition (WP1). All these WPs will point to a next generation virtual factory development that seamlessly interacts with the real factory (WP6). All the project results will find actual validation in WP7.
WP0, Project Management, and WP8, Dissemination and Exploitation, run parallel to the other tasks.
