ReWaVe 2

Technical Details

The system consists of an IS-1200 tracking system, which uses fiducials (markers) that are attached to a 12.6 x 6.2 meter room's ceiling. The system is able to track a point in 6 degrees of freedom with a measuring rate of 180 Hz.

In order to immerse in a virtual environment, the user wears the HMD as well as a backpack with a laptop. The laptop processes the measurements from the tracking system and calculates the new scene to be rendered for the HMD. The laptop consists of a Intel Core i7-2630QM processor (2 GHz). an NVIDIA Quadro 1000M graphics card and 8 GB RAM.

The Unity3D Game Engine is used to render the virtual scene. The control algorithm, the optimization, and the capturing procedure were developed in a C11 library (multi-threaded). This library can be directly accessed in Unity 3D through its native plugin feature.
