VisDome
Retrospective of the VisDome

On February, 23rd 1998 the new visualization center of ETH Zurich was officially opened by AG-Vis and the head of the school. The local papers reported about this event.
The new research and visualization center is placed in the dome of the ETH main building. This gave the name to the center: VisDome (Visualization Dome).
The modern visualization installations of the Visdome allow to visualize and to interact with complex data, objects and structures. Simulations and applications can be realized by the use of virtual reality.
On August 15th 2002, the visualization center VisDome is passed over to Dr. Andreas Kunz in order to concentrate all VR activities and courses there. Extensive renovations and changes were made.
The visualization center is completely renewed. Beside the Onyx also a PC-based system is used for the first time as a graphics computer. The projection system was replaced by a more powerfull DLP projection system.
